The Benefits of Protective Styling - Khamit Kinks

Does your hair need a break? Is it time for a hair vacation?

The Benefits of Protective Styling:

  1. Protective styles can afford your hair the luxury of relaxation and wellness that a maintained look can achieve for the three to six weeks it is styled in a low to no manipulation alternative.
  2. A protective style is designed to retain growth while growing your hair longer and keeping hair soft during the process.
  3. A protective style gives you the opportunity to change up your look and try something totally new while your hair takes a needed break from heat and styling products.

The ideal is to reduce the damage daily maintenance with heating and styling products can do to natural hair. Once the protective style is removed, hair growth and breakage is natural. Your style should be moisturized and maintained during wear. Choose styles that require either no manipulation or very little.

Low manipulation styles: braids, cornrows and twist-outs that are re-braided at night or, buns that are tucked into styles. (Some breakage will occur from daily care and is natural.) These styles are time-saving!

No manipulation styles: twist, braids, flat twist, wigs, weaves. These styles do not require daily combing and a wide-tooth comb or fingers are best to use. Breakage should be minimal if maintained properly.

Khamit Kinks specializes in the caring and grooming of all hair types in its various stages. Among our Signature Styles, we offer protective styles to combat breakage and encourage growth. Protective styles in our salon include, but are not limited to:

  • Twists: Flat and Double strain
  • Braids
  • Up dos

Additional hair in the form of synthetic or human hair is added for even more versatility in color, thickness, length, and appearance in texture. Whether you sport a low cut, wear a weave or a natural style, or you are transitioning to natural, we offer professional consultations* and expert care.

Remember: Think from the inside out. How healthy is your diet? What you put into your body, determines your hair growth cycle.

Protective Styles Should:

  • Protect your ends
  • Not be too tight
  • Prevent excessive pulling
  • Protect your natural hair underneath
